The stunt was mistimed with the sharp flying projectile aimed at Yuen right between the eyes. Yuen reacted with a quick-reflex protective spin-turn away with back facing the spear but it impaled him entering through his right shoulder blade and exiting his under-arm. The costumed Yuen was taken to the hospital with the bamboo pole still in his body and Yuen's costume stained with real blood doubling for theatrical gelatin blood.
