Shahzad Basir is a software engineer by profession and has a passion for Urdu poetry recitation. He has performed at various literary gatherings in the US and has received high praise from the literary circles at these events.

These include events organized by the Urdu Academy of North America (Fremont, CA), Pakistani American Culture Center (San Jose, CA), Pakistani American Arts and Culture Council (Sacramento, CA), and at other events in San Francisco, San Jose and Washington DC. He has also performed at a few events in AQS in Islamabad. 
His main interest is in reciting the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz sahib.
