Description
The Hero's Journey to Healing and Growth.
Joseph Campbell, an American Mythologist came up with a pattern of how the typical adventure of an archetype, The Hero, takes place.
The group will use a mix of tools like personal reflection, sharing, small group work to complete an ideal “Hero’s Journey”, facing each of its stages and the possible challenges and rewards they offer. We will understand the deeper layers of meaning of each stage of the "Journey", and will experience the power of a transformative rite of passage, made possible through creating and sharing stories.
We will:
- practice critical story analysis through a movie breakdown (individual + group work and revision);
- explore in detail the 12 stages of the Mono myth, like "meeting with the Mentor", the "Revelation", the "Journey back".
- get familiar with elements of story writing.
- delve deeper into Jungian archetypes to understand their connections with Joseph Campbell's work. (18 and above only)
The Saturday's session will introduce the ideas followed by Sunday's session which will be left for discussion and tips on how to develop and run Mono-myth-inspired activities for storytellers, educators and creative professionals in general. You will be encouraged to prepare and submit your questions in advance! (After Saturday's Session)
