Workshop on Improving Teaching
Almost all the teaching institutes (schools, colleges and universities) in Pakistan have traditional ways of teaching Science in spite of extensive research showing that there are much more effective methods, especially active learning. The faculty can better teach the students by adopting research based teaching methods and it will greatly improve student’s performance and engagement. This change is possible, Dr. Aftab Ahmad will conduct short workshop to help educators adopt new teachings methods and approaches.
Topics to be covered
• Brain Structure and Function
• Teaching in modern era
• Active Learning
• Techniques of Active learning
• Learning through problem solving
Venue: Host School, College, Department/Institute or University
Duration: The workshop will be Half day and Full Day sessions
Registration Fee: The participants have to pay Rs. 1000 per session but negotiation will be done as per host institute. There should be a minimum 10 participants per session.
Certificate: A certificate of participation will be provided to all the participants.

Dr. Aftab Ahmad
Dr. Aftab Ahmad did his BS hons in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics with Distinction from University of the Punjab, Lahore, PhD in Cell Biology from same university and Post Doc in Tissue Engineering from NAIST, Japan. Dr. Aftab Ahmad has conducted over 200 workshops on various topics in Pakistan and abroad. In Pakistan Dr. Aftab has conducted training and workshops in over 100 departments, research institutes and universities. Dr. Aftab has served as President of Sciforum Pakistan and currently President of National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS), Pakistan. He is member of World Economic Forum, World Science Forum and Global Young Academy. He completed certification in Science Communication from JCOM, Italy and on Science Policy and Communication from Duke University, USA. He has represented Pakistan in more than 25 countries. Dr. Aftab has a strong passion of improving teaching in developing world and especially in Pakistan.
