Book Club: Forty Rules of Love
Our February pick for book club is a lyrical and thought-provoking novel about the timeless power of love, in all its forms.
Ella Rubenstein is a middle-aged house wife who lives a comfortable life in a large Victorian house with her husband and three children. She seems to have it all, and yet she feels unfulfilled. With this lingering feeling of unease, she takes on an assignment to review a novel titled Sweet Blasphemy, about the thirteenth-century Sufi poet Rumi and Shams of Tabriz. As she reads, she finds herself enamoured with the book and the writer. The novel makes her question the love less path she is on and inspires her to go on a journey of self-transformation.
Join us as we discuss these parallels narratives and the elements that tie them together across different cultures and centuries.
