Course Overview
This training is intended to impart information about designing, operating and maintaining reverse osmosis (RO) systems, specifically for mid-level professionals in the field of water and wastewater treatment. The training shall provide hands-on experience in designing RO systems using design software which will be complemented with extensive discussions and consultation meetings to discuss the technical intricacies and case studies of RO systems along with guidance on operation and maintenance (O&M) of the systems.

Course Outline
The training will be conducted for two days and will cover the following topics:
i. Fundamentals of RO
ii. Planning for RO system design
iii. RO system design using commercial software
iv. RO system design 
v. Pre-treatment and post-treatment in RO systems
vi. RO plant monitoring, O&M issues
vii. RO monitoring and troubleshooting
viii. RO plant case studies for desalination and water reuse
ix. Question and answer (consultation meetings) between the resource person and the audience

Training Objectives
This training covers both theoretical and practical aspects of engineering RO based membrane systems. It shall provide a brief overview of RO system fundamentals and shall focus on selection and design of all key RO system components. The following are the specific objectives of the training programme:
i. Provide hands-on experience on design of and monitoring RO systems
ii. Train the audience on existing RO design software, and explain their potentials and limitations
iii. Provide details on O&M and troubleshooting issues related to RO systems

Target audience
This training programme is specifically designed for mid-level water professionals and water system operation engineers in mind. However, it will also serve a purpose for newcomers in the field of water (and membrane) treatment technology and even sale engineers in the field.
